Phoenix is a pretty big city and you might want to consider renting a car if you have quite some area to cover. That said, Phoenix has a Valley Metro public transit system that includes buses and light rail. Be warned that most places frequented by visitors are not served by the public transit system.
A free Downtown Area Circulator (DASH) is also available–it includes Central Avenue, 1st Avenue, and the State Capitol complex. Although riding sharing apps like Lyft and Uber might be more economical, you can also get around using a taxi.
