Franchises play an important role in the global economy as well as the American one. More than 750,000 franchise companies operate in the United States and employ about 8.17 million people.
Thirty percent of franchise owners own their franchise for less than two years, while 20 percent own their franchise for more than ten years. More than half of franchise owners own two or more franchisees, and 12% of franchise owners are 34 years of age or younger.
