The two common ways to fix eye defects are glasses and contact lenses. Laser eye surgery exploded into the medical scene about four decades ago and joined the list of therapies for vision correction. This procedure's popularity has grown throughout the UK, but what's laser eye surgery, and how does it work?
Laser eye surgery is a procedure involving a patient's cornea being reshaped to allow light to enter the eye and land directly on the retina. The surgeon uses surgical instruments or lasers to reshape the cornea by removing it during the operation. Cutting off a portion of the cornea, however, is not the surgeon's only choice when performing laser eye surgery. Having a flap is the alternative.
