There are six areas of interest that need to be worked on, and the connection with the other key Sustainable Development Goals is also shown.
The first point of interest is access to safe drinking water to all. The second point of interest is sanitation and hygiene, the third being water quality, which leads to ingestion of harmful chemicals. The fourth focus is increasing the water efficiency.The fifth focus is on integrated water resources management, with the last focus being on sustaining water-related ecosystems.
It is important to have targets which create impacts across all the areas of development that the United Nations is working on. Focusing on integrated, far-reaching targets will help reach the goal faster and more efficiently.
