At the same time overprescription of antibiotics has led to the development of superbugs, antibiotic resistant bacteria that make it nearly impossible to treat infections. Coupled with a rapidly changing climate and increasing global travel, these disease can spread faster and farther than ever before.
The threats to humanity’s future aren’t only medical. As automation replaces human work and artificial intelligence is built into military weaponry, those science fiction tales aren’t looking so far fetched.
