Keeping Kids Hydrated
Did you know that, in some cases, headaches and various muscle and joint pains can be easily remedied by downing a glass of water? The body’s composition has a unique balance—75% water and 25% solids. So, water accounts for more than twice the amount of solids. Why is that?

Water is the main conduit of the nourishment our organs and tissues need in order to function at their peak. It is also the carrier of the waste materials our body produces in order to keep itself efficient. Without water, our bodies will literally not work. Consequently, having water at less than optimum levels will create a disturbance— the whole system will go under stress. Naturally, our body will not let itself perish, therefore, it sends out a message for us to replenish water as soon as possible. This disturbance is called dehydration.

Dehydration is a condition that leads to a lot of bodily problems. While very simple to correct, it is often disregarded because the effects doesn’t come as sudden and as adverse. It’s like a slow-ticking time bomb.

Don’t let dehydration get to you. Arm yourself with the necessary information against dehydration. To know more about the science, causes, and effects of dehydration, check out this infographic from Afterschool.ae—UAE’s leading resource for afterschool activities.
