You've seen the Fast and the Furious in the movie theaters but have you heard about the real fast and furious? The super cars and drivers that risked it all to break real landspeed records. From 1898 to 1965 many people haven gotten behind the wheel and put the pedal to the metal to earn their place in the record books. Many have tried and few have succeeded.

This infographic, released by Titlemax, is a beautiful visual historical time line of the drivers and cars that broke previous records and propelled them to fame. Even if only for a short time. In 1898 the speed record was under 40 miles per hour. I can imagine you would feel comfortable at those speeds today but would you feel comfortable driving over 400 miles per hour? If you say yes, you're either very brave or a tad less than truthful. Which car on this infographic is your favorite?
