WhatsApp just announced that it is making it easier for users to transfer chats between Android and iOS devices, which will put an end to one of the biggest hassles WhatsApp users have to face when it comes to transferring data.

During Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, WhatsApp was given airtime during which the social company announced the new feature. WhatsApp also revealed that the feature was being tested for the past few weeks and there was trouble implementing it due to "end-to-end encryption," which required additional assistance.

According to WhatsApp, the ability to transfer chats between Android and iOS will be available to Android users first, specifically Samsung users, in the coming weeks.

Chat data during the transfer will include photos, videos, and voice memos other than the chat itself.

WhatsApp, however, hasn’t yet disclosed when it plans to bring the option to iOS devices.
