The United States of Crazy Laws
Every state in the United States has laws that are still on the books in 2016 that are a bit crazy to say the least. There are some laws that would have been appropriate in the past, but have no practical use today. Olivet Nazarene University has compiled a list of the craziest laws in each state. You can see the comprehensive list here. Most of the laws seem pretty crazy today. Some of the crazier laws still on the books as of 2016 are:
  • Wisconsin- It is illegal to serve butter substitutes in prison
  • Virginia- Children are not allowed to go trick-or treating on Halloween
  • Tennessee- It is illegal to share your Netflix password
Each state is a unique representation of its own population. One way we see each state’s uniqueness is by looking at the laws that they enforce in their state. Check out the graphic below to see more on each state’s crazy laws.
