The Motherhood Penalty in Labor Force Involvement

Although it may appear that participation of women in the labor force has increased significantly in recent times, but that is not the case – at least not at the global level.  Even though the labor force participation rate for women aged 25-54 has undeniably increased from 67 percent in 1990 to 77 percent in 2021 in high-income countries, situation looks quite differently in all other income groups. According to estimates from the International Labour Organization (ILO), only 61.4 percent of women in prime working age were either employed or actively seeking employment globally in 2022, which is actually a small decline from 62.8 percent in 1990.

A List of Some 2019 OSHA Violations

Labour work is perhaps one of the toughest out there. Not only should labourers be keen on working carefully, but they also need to look after themselves. It doesn't really matter what particular task they carry out, since all tasks have their own risks. These tasks can include working at extreme heights, dangerous pipe and machinery involvement and much much more.

OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has defined a set of standards for the well-being of labourers in the United States. These standards are subject to change as per the environment or any new circumstances.

How Much Your Body Parts Are Worth In Workers’ Compensation
Employees who are permanently injured or lose a limb due to workplace accidents or hazards are typically compensated by their employer for the harm done to their body and future lost wages. Unfortunately, benefits vary wildly from state to state. Congress permits each state to determine workers’ compensation benefits with no minimums set by the federal government. In the Unite States, the average maximum compensation for an arm is $169,878.

However, if you work in Alabama, you may only be given a maximum payout of $48,840 if you lose an arm. Nevada offers the most at $859,634. Shockingly, the US average compensation for a lost arm is only $169,878. Another major variance is the compensation for losing a leg. The United States average is $153,211. Nevada is the most generous once again, offering $457,418 for a lost leg, which is a stark contrast to Alabama’s mere $44,000.
