Google has added a limit to the number of files that can be created in Drive. While the company did not officially announce this policy when it went into effect, it has now confirmed that users will be allowed to upload a maximum of 5 million files in Drive.

It is important to note that this limit is applicable to all users, including those who pay for extra storage. This means that a user with 2TB of storage would reach their file creating limit before running out of storage, with an average file size over 400KB. However, users are not to assume this limit for files that are shared in Drive, meaning that there can be more than 5 million files in a user’s Drive, as long as they are not just “created” by them.

Google has Placed a File Creation Limit in Drive

Google's G Suit Status Dashboard recently reported some service disruptions that occurred in several Google services including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet, Groups, Chat, Keep, and Voice. Google later reported that issues with Gmail had been resolved and that the service started to work normally as shown by its updated dashboard.

The disruptions were, however, ongoing as file uploads were failing across Google services including uploading attachments in Gmail. Moreover, some users reported errors in composing a new email or reply.
