Adobe has launched a new prototype of its generative AI tool ‘Project Music GenAI Control.’ It is currently undergoing development with the help of collaborative efforts by the University of California and the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.

The tool, like other generative AI audio tools, is designed to produce audio based on text descriptions. But there is more to it too: the ability to edit the output without having to use a separate editing software – allowing the user enhanced control over their creation. This is something that is either lacking or not sufficiently supported in other tools like Google’s MusicLM or Meta’s AudioCraft.

Adobe’s latest AI-powered project called Fast Fill is built on the company’s upgraded Firefly AI models. It has been designed to add or remove objects, remove people, and replace colors in videos using generative AI.

You may think of Fast Fill as a feature similar to Google’s Magic Editor, except that the latter only works with still images, while Fast Fill is capable of doing the same job in videos using text prompts.

Adobe has released a new symbol, the “icon of transparency,” as part of its initiative to provide transparency in the usage of AI-generated content. The symbol was originally developed as part of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), a group inclusive of other companies that works to create technical standards to certify the source of online content.

The new transparency symbol can be used as a label for metadata including images, videos, and PDFs to highlight the origin and creator of the content, including whether it was AI-generated. According to Adobe, other companies will also be able to adopt the icon in the coming months; however, neither companies nor users will be “required” to do so.
