The team at Grease Monkey released a map ranking each American state by a car-damage score. The team created their scoring system based on key factors such as the frequency of extreme weather, the number of natural disasters and floods, average road conditions, traffic fatalities, and proximity to salty air or salted roads. This comprehensive system allows us to pinpoint where cars are most at risk.
It turns out that Texas has an unlucky combination of factors that makes cars there more likely to sustain damage. Texas serves up punishing heat, frequent hailstorms, flooding, and a fairly high number of traffic fatalities. Residents of the Lone Star State would do well to ensure they have solid insurance coverage. You’re safest in Idaho, where the weather is mild, the roads are in decent condition, and there’s no salt erosion from roads or ocean air.
