Map Shows Tech Industry Borders Being Redrawn

Silicon Valley is no longer the only name you’ll hear in tech. Across the U.S., mid-sized cities are coming into their own as tech powerhouses, and a new map from Pulse shows they have the numbers to make a major impact. Here are the locations heading up the action in several tech sectors:

  • Computing Infrastructure and Data Services: Somerset, NJ, is carrying the backbone of this sector thanks to its close proximity to New York City. It’s transformed the Garden State into a major player in tech.
  • Custom Computer Programming: The coding scene is booming in Norfolk City, Virginia, and they’re working on more than D.C. government contracts.
  • Software Publishing: The Lone Star State dominates in this sector. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the software industry.
  • Semiconductor Manufacturing: Texas leads once again, specifically Taylor, TX, where Samsung poured billions into the chip industry to spread its roots in the South.
