Which U.S. States Do People Spend the Most Time at Home?

A new study from the Rove Lab ranks all 50 U.S. states by how much time residents spend at home, using a score that combines their average minutes per day on at-home activities and the percentage of people who work from home. The top spot goes to New Jersey, where residents spend much of their day at home and have one of the highest remote-work rates in the country.

Just behind New Jersey, Oregon and Maine form the top three, followed by Maryland and North Carolina to make the top five. At the other end of the rankings, Wyoming ranks last, reflecting fewer remote workers due to a higher share of outdoor and on-site jobs.

Overall, residents of northeastern and northern states tend to rank higher, while residents of less-populated, outdoor-oriented states tend to spend less time at home.
