Twitter collaborates with Associated Press and Reuters

Social media platforms have been an amazing source of entertainment but on the other hand, these platforms are also the biggest source of spreading misinformation. This is why all social media platforms that necessary steps to avoid the spread of fake news that can harm society.

People instantly believe what they see on the internet without confirming the source authentication and pass it to others. Twitter is among all the big social media names that have not only provided us with entertainment but also have witnessed the spread of false news on the platform.

The company has been working on this issue for a long time and even launched a Birdwatch feature a while back. This feature included a specific group of Twitter users who could report any content they find leading to misinformation on the app.
Twitter has now finally joined its hands with Associated Press (AP) and Reuters so that these companies can work together to spread only authentic information. These collaborative companies will add related information on the trending posts and news which will be expected to spread like fire.

Moreover, the companies will also work on keyword-based trending search and decide which post should rank on top according to the authenticity of the content. They will also take over the responsibility of handling prompts on Explore page and manage them regardless of the genre.

Twitter already has a Trust and Safety team that is only responsible for removing or banning inappropriate content that violates the company’s guidelines. This team cannot add additional information to the posts or manage things accordingly.

It is surely a great and much-needed initiative by Twitter. Since the world is already facing pandemic issues and cannot afford more troubles and panic in the form of fake news, we hope that this new collaboration proves to be a great success.
