There are numerous competitors when it comes to the e-commerce race but, if we talk about China specifically, several giant e-commerce brands are based in China. Within China are a lot of these platforms out of which few are available globally whereas, some are available regionally only. When talking about the global merchandise volume, the e-commerce operations from Alibaba Group always stay ahead of other Chinese platforms.
According to the infographic below, the largest e-commerce platform in China that is available regionally is Taobao with a gross merchandise volume of $490.3 billion in 2019. Followed closely by Tmall in the domestic market with a gross volume of $463.5 billion and JD.com with $301.9 billion.
AliExpress on the other hand is the globally available e-commerce platform that recorded the worldwide gross merchandise volume of $39.1 billion back in 2019.
