WhatsApp just announced the new version of WhatsApp Web, version 2.2043.7, and the main addition in the new version will be of calls.
WhatsApp had earlier announced that it was working on the calls feature for the desktop version, and so users can expect it to be out soon.
The option for both voice and video calls is currently in the beta stage development and will make an appearance in the 2.2043.7 version of WhatsApp Web.
A preview of the feature shows how it works. When there is an incoming call on WhatsApp Web, a separate window will open where the options for accepting or declining the call will be displayed. On the other hand, when the user chooses to place a call, a smaller window will open where the status of the call will be shown.
The voice and video call feature also includes group voice and video call.
