Homelessness is quite a big issue in the United States, with the total number reaching an estimate of 4.2 million young adults. It is not only unstable financial conditions within a family that lead to homelessness but also how the particular youth bonds with their family. Fights within the family and poor communication and affection cause a young individual to emotionally detach from their family. Many youths give away themselves to leading their lives alone and hesitate to reach out for help.
There are many reasons behind the unfair treatment of homeless youth by their family. Most of the time the family doesn't agree with the views, opinions and independent choices of their child. Other reasons may include mentally unstable parents who beat up their young ones out of their own stressful condition. A toxic environment also results in youth opting for drugs to feel better and if there is ongoing pressure of school and college, it makes matters only worse.

Apart from instability issues and not being able to get along with their family, many homeless youths had to experience the death of their guardian or parents, which turned everything around for them. Despite all these overwhelming challenges, the United States' public policy provides support to homeless youth, the support is also uplifted by NGOs that provide shelter and counselling services, among many.
