Americans are not as
patriotic as they once were.
According to the new poll
by Gallup, only 63% of Americans claim to be extremely proud of their country. This
is a sharp decline from the 70% reported in 2019 and experts say that much of
it is reduced after Donald Trump took hold of the White House.
When it comes to partisanship,
only 24% of the Democrats responded to be extremely proud of their country in
2020. The number increased by 2 points from 2019 – but went down 16 points from
the reported in 2017.
On the other hand, Republicans
saw the largest drop in their national pride – going from 76% to 67% in 2020.
Other statistics from the
survey show that older Americans are more prideful of America when compared to
the younger ones. Men are also more likely than women to have extreme pride in
their countries.
It was also established that
white Americans are two times more likely than nonwhite Americans to have
extreme feelings for America. Given the circumstances of America these days,
this specific demographic is not surprising at all!
