It's a funny thing to misinterpret. You can go your entire life thinking something is right, and then unexpectedly, when you find out you've always been wrong, the world gets flipped upside down. I always thought, for example, that the word "queue" was pronounced "qway," when I said it one day (and after a lot of ridicule) I quickly learned that it is not right. Apparently it's pronounced "q," because I was the only one from my group of friends that didn't know the correct pronunciation, I was really humiliated.
