17.6 million American adults lost money in a phone scam in the past 12 months according to findings from a study conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Truecaller. Phone scams can include ID theft caused by giving out personal info over the phone and unauthorized charges being placed on victims' phone bills. Despite the danger, many smartphone owners don't take basic precautions to protect themselves from phone scams.
