The team at Ooma shows us where small businesses thrive and falter with a map of the cities that saw the largest number of small businesses open and close in the last year. The team also identified which types of small businesses have the most success. They were:
- Health Care
- Groceries
- Cleaning and Janitorial Services
- Laundromats
- Landscaping
- Plumbing
- Auto Repair
- Power Washing
As for which cities had the most small businesses open, Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida, came out on top, followed by Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida, in second place. Many of the cities on the list are mid-sized and vastly more affordable than some of the cities that have lost a significant number of small businesses, which include Los Angeles, Long Beach, Anaheim, San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward. It appears that the ideal small business location is one that is affordable yet can still attract a large customer base.
