Snapchat and Microsoft have collaborated on a new
integration that lets Work users on Microsoft Teams enjoy some of the most
popular Snapchat Lenses to add AR effects in their video meetings. There are
more than 20 Lenses that users can choose from.
The Lenses are powered by Snap's Camera Kit and offer an AR
effect to video calls, making them livelier and more interactive. “Since AR
uses cameras, sensors, and displays, which are already built into video
conferencing, it is a perfect and seamless fit with Teams,” says Microsoft.
Snapchat Lenses in Teams can be accessed in the Teams client
directly, without having to download Snapchat or an add-on. They can be tried
on from the Video Effects section, and if a user wants to choose a Lens in the
middle of a Teams meeting, they can access them by clicking on ‘More’ at the
top of the meeting screen and selecting ‘Video Effects.’ Users can also preview
the Lenses before applying them.
In addition to the new Snapchat filters, Microsoft is bringing a new animated backgrounds feature to Teams, the rollout of which is due in May.
