All Songs with Over 1 Billion Spotify Streams

Spotify is a registered Swedish audio streaming and media services provider. It was found on 23 April 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. It is one of the leading music streaming service providers, with over 456 million monthly active users, including 195 million paying subscribers, as of September 2022.

Spotify is relatively a new application. It was launched in Europe in 2008 and ultimately moved into the American market in 2011. Since then, the Stockholm-based company has become the world’s most popular audio streaming service with users across 183 markets.

With such a vast user base, many famous artists on Spotify have seen their biggest hit songs engage millions of streams. In July 2021, Spotify formed the Billions Club, which is a playlist that comprises of every song to reach the 1 billion milestone.

It is quite surprising to notice that Ariana Grande is the only female artist present in the top 10 list. Her best performing song on Spotify is “7 rings”, which was incorporated in her fifth studio album “thank u, next”. The track has accrued 1.8 billion streams since February 8, 2019.

Female superstars who lost the top 10 list by slight numbers include Adele, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo, who all have four songs in the Billions Club.

Most of these artists are relatively fresh, so it is rational to assume that they will be breaking into the top 10 soon. Olivia Rodrigo, for example, just released her debut album “SOUR” in 2021.

Which artist in the top 10 has been around for the longest time?

Tenure is measured in the context of time that has passed since the debut album of the artist was released. In this case, the winner would be Eminem, who released Infinite in November 1996.

The 11-track album was released on cassette and vinyl, and according to the Eminem Fandom wiki, only sold around 1,000 copies. The title track, Infinite, is the only song from the album that is available on Spotify, and it currently has 33 million plays.

As the holiday season is about to start, there is a lot of Christmas music to be played in the coming weeks, whether it is at home, at the mall, or in a cafe.

There are high Chances that Mariah Carey’s: “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is going to be one of the songs. Not only is this song a holiday staple, it’s also the only Christmas song with over 1 billion streams on Spotify.

This song was released in October 1994 with Carey’s first holiday album, Merry Christmas and is till date a massive success. In 2021, it became the first and only Christmas song to receive Diamond certification by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
