Last week, Instagram previewed a new feature that displays scheduled live streams on creators’ profiles, and has now outlined it for users to see how it really works.

The feature is designed to raise awareness among users about upcoming live broadcasts in the app. As a creator, you can list all your upcoming IG live streams on your profile, which when tapped, will also reveal further information. The option will also enable others to sign-up for a reminder of when the stream is set to begin.

As stated by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, you can separate scheduling a live from creating a feed post, or even a Story post, about that Live. The live streams will be displayed on your profile in the form of a little badge that lets anybody who visits your profile know that you’ve scheduled a Live.

Moreover, there is no limit to the number of Lives that you can schedule, so you can set up as many as you want to. A side-scrolling list will be added to your profile display containing all the scheduled Lives.

Previously, people could only prompt followers about their Lives through Instagram posts and stories, but with the badge now displayed on profiles, it will boost awareness of broadcasts. This way, new followers who visit your profile will also be able to know about scheduled broadcasts, hence increasing audience reach.

Instagram has continued to update IG Live with valuable elements, including expanding it into eCommerce. Even though this latest addition to IG Live is not too big, it could still be significant in terms of boosting engagement, considering how IG Live has become a key connection tool in the app.
