Twitter will soon launch Communities – a rival to Facebook Groups

As we know, Twitter has been working on several new updates to improve the overall experience of the platform. Another update that the company will soon roll out is the invite-only Communities. This will allow the users to create communities of people having mutual interests – just like Facebook Groups.

From Wednesday, users on the platform will be able to invite to the Communities from any of the batches. Currently, the company has launched an initial batch including the following categories: #DogTwitter, #AstroTwitter, #SoleFood, and #SkinCareTwitter.
Once you have joined the community, you will be able to post Tweets that all the other members of your community will see. Moreover, only the respective members of a specific community will have the authority to like or reply to the Tweets by other members.

Furthermore, just like Facebook Groups and Reddit’s subreddits, the Communities of Twitter will have a moderator to set the rules, add or remove people and remove inappropriate tweets.

Twitter has initially invited large groups of people to join the communities and now will begin to allow them to create their own. Communities can only be joined if a user is invited otherwise, anyone cannot send a join request to the communities.
