Despite all the security concerns, data safety issues, and content concerns, TikTok is once again crowned as the most downloaded app. Surprisingly, the application has the highest number of downloads on both the App Store and the Play Store hence, ranks at the top in overall downloads as well.
Sensor Tower shared the most downloaded app list in June 2021 which shows TikTok at number one. This means that TikTok had been on the top rank for the past 18 months except for January 2021 when Telegram saw a sudden boost in its downloads after WhatsApp’s new data privacy update. However, the second exception was in November 2020 when WhatsApp occupied the first position.
The non-gaming application had more than 65 million downloads in the month of June 2021. However, the most number of installs were from China and Indonesia i.e., 13 percent and 12 percent of the total downloads, respectively.
But, Facebook and its acquainted applications have proved to be a solid competitor with Facebook resting at second position in the Play Store and overall downloads. Facebook is replaced by YouTube in the App Store’s download but, Instagram and WhatsApp have their positions the same on both Play Store and App Store as well as in the list of overall downloads.
Instagram and WhatsApp are ranked at 4th and 5th positions, respectively in all three categories. This shows the incredible performance and strong user base of these Facebook-owned companies.
