According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 6 out of 10 Americans suffer from a chronic disease, and 4 in 10 Americans are living with two chronic conditions, at least. Most counties with the highest prevalence of chronic diseases can be found in the southern United States, however, chronic conditions have been on the rise all across the country.
From My Health Champion, this infographic analyzes which counties across the United States see the most chronic conditions. The data found that the highest chronic illness prevalence is in Harlan County, Kentucky (66.2%), with Humphreys County, Mississippi (65.0%) and East Carroll Parish, Louisiana (64.8%) following close behind.The infographic also includes data on chronic illnesses such as obesity, where five of the top six counties are all located in Mississippi, with the highest obesity rate being found in Jefferson County, Mississippi at 49.9%.
