Snapchat releases an in-app section ‘Spotlight’ similar to the TikTok

Since TikTok is the most popular short-video making application and is used by billions of people every day, Snapchat tried to get the attention and rolled out a new section called ‘Spotlight,’ which is just like TikTok. The company pretty confidently takes over TikTok and has also announced to pay the creators to post their videos on Snapchat.

According to the company, a share of $1 million will be distributed among the top best creators every day on Snapchat by the end of 2020. This simply means that if someone becomes lucky enough to get their video viral, they will end up earning a massive chunk of $1 million. The number of followers won’t be a big deal as the number of views will play the entire game. If a video stays viral for a longer period of time, the creator of that video will keep on earning the amount.
Snapchat is releasing the Spotlight section in 11 different countries of the world that includes the UK, USA, Germany, France, and Australia. The section will have a separate tab within the app from where the users can access it. The videos can be made up to 60 seconds long maximum.

The format of using and making videos on Spotlight would be like that of TikTok, so anyone who has used TikTok won’t find trouble in using it. Furthermore, the users can keep their accounts private in order to prevent the videos from being shared with everyone on the platform.

Snapchat had been providing small hints for the launch of Spotlight for months and also announced music in the snaps in August. Since the short-videos have gained enormous popularity, after TikTok, Instagram and YouTube also rolled out features of short clips to which Instagram gave a name ‘Reels.’ The main purpose of designing Spotlight is to make the short video clips go viral over the internet.
