Professional sports earn a lot of viewership from all across
the world or even a single country. The dawn of fantasy sports came somewhere
in the 2010s and it upped the game exponentially. A country where a lot of
sports are played, the fantasy leagues skyrocket when the season comes.
There fantasy leagues in place in America of at least every
major sports league which includes Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball
Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), and National Football League
(NFL). Fantasy leagues are not only popular in American but they are also
popular in other countries. If we combine USA and Canada, the fantasy league
comprises of more than 59 million users with an average revenue of $23 billion.
Fantasy league is also popular in India as well where
cricket is very popular. There are country wise annual cricket leagues as well
and each of them comes with their own set of fantasy league. Even when the ICC
Cricket World Cup is live, a fantasy league is formed for the digital gamers. Indian
Premier League (IPL) is one of the most popular cricket leagues in the world
and that’s why the fantasy league is super effective during the tournament. There
is an estimated 180 million cricket fans in India but the viewership during the
IPL season reaches up to 700 million.
