The pandemic has shown us how poorly prepared we are for even the slightest variation in routine, especially when it comes to business. Businesses that didn’t have WFH (work from home) or BYOD (bring your own device) policies in place when the pandemic began were scrambling to make the switch. Meanwhile, hackers took note of our lack of preparedness and as a result phishing and hacking attempts skyrocketed. Phishing alone is up 600% since February!
For business to go on as usual, we have to be prepared to meet new challenges, and that includes challenges to information security. Businesses should start by examining security protocols as well as enacting policies that allow for flexibility when flexibility is needed. It’s not just about creating a better work environment - it’s also about ensuring business can go on regardless of what’s happening in the community or in the world.
