In order to limit the spread of novel coronavirus, government and health agencies are urging their citizens to limit their movement and practice isolation as much as possible. As a result, educational institutions, entertainment venues and even places of worship have closed down to force people to stay at home and avoid public gatherings.

And now the restrictions are also applying to offices and other workplace entities as well.

Coronavirus is a type of contagious respiratory illness. Unfortunately, the disease spreads rapidly and has infected over 353,000 people around the world with over 15, 427 fatalities – to date. According to health authorities, the best way to prevent COVID-19 infection is to avoid physical contact with everyone, follow hygiene protocols and keep yourself isolated to prevent exposure.

To prevent any type of exposure, many offices around the globe are also following a ‘work from home’ policy. And this means that the demand for virtual communication tools such as Trello, Slack, and Teams has increased drastically.

In this regard, Microsoft said that their workplace chat app called Team has seen an increase of 100% from 20 million daily active users in November to more than 44 million daily active users today. Interestingly, the app’s daily user grew by 12 million in just the past week alone.
Microsoft launched its Team app in 2017 as a chat-based workplace for Office 364. The app reached 20 million daily active users count in November, surpassing Slack – the pioneer of workplace communication tools.
