Monster Traffic Jams Around the World
Traffic congestion is something many of us struggle with every day. But did you know that the commuters of Bengaluru, India, and Manila, Philippines faced the worst traffic jams in the year 2019? In fact, travelers of both urban cities can expect to spend around 71% extra travel time in traffic alone.

TomTom recently released their annual traffic index for the year 2019 where they analyzed the traffic congestion levels in 416 cities in 57 countries. According to their report, Colombian capital of Bogota comes on the third position with 68% traffic congestion while Mumbai and Pune - the metropolitan cities of India follow close behind.

Interestingly, India can be termed as the country with the most traffic congestion as four of its major cities including New Delhi make the TomTom list.

The city of Los Angeles is the most congested city in the United States. However, the levels of traffic jam in ‘the city of Angels’ are far lesser than the cities mentioned in this infographic at 42%.
With regard to this infographic, Ralf-Peter Schäfer, TomTom's VP of Traffic information urges the policymakers to assess the situation and make arrangements to ease the traffic flow in the major cities. Although traffic congestion may show signs of a strong economic condition, it is a problematic situation for travelers who lose time, effort, and even money while stuck in traffic for hours.
