Is The Rising Sea Level Threatening To The People Living On Land?
Scientific magazine “Nature Magazine” recently published their research regarding the rising sea levels and declared that over 200 million people will be living below the sea level by the year 2100. They also said that around 160 million more people will be affected as a result of flooding caused by rising ocean levels.

The numbers published by Nature Magazine are significantly higher than any other research published in this regard. However, previous studies use different coastal elevation models while recent research takes into account the global average temperature increase of 2 degrees Celsius.

According to the researchers at Nature Magazine, 70% of the affected individuals will be living in the eight countries of Asia. China would be the most impacted with around 43 million or 20% population underwater. Other countries that would also take the hard-hit due to rising sea level include India, Bangladesh, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
On the European side, Netherlands is predicted to be the most impacted. However, it is notable that the country has one of the most promising flood control strategies in the world – thus residents are more likely to be safe. It is also anticipated that the UK, Germany, Italy, Turkey, and France would also face severe damage from the floods in the year 2100.
