According to LinkedIn co-founder Allen Blue, data science and machine learning-related jobs are five out of the top 15 rising positions in America today. Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Big Data Engineers are among LinkedIn's top emerging workers. Compared to just five years ago, profiles for those job categories grew by 9.8X.
Most successful candidates are likely to come from a computer science or STEM program–science, technology, engineering or mathematics, but not all of these programs can come from them. Liberal arts majors certainly have a place in data science, as this job really is a combination of art and science.
