A History of Famous Fences

Every year, millions of people travel thousands of miles to see the world’s most historic, famous buildings in real-life – and it’s exactly the same situation with fences (and walls). Whilst the original purpose of fences may have been to create a physical barrier to stop people from getting in somewhere (or as the case may be, out!); to this day the world’s most famous fences are still attracting thousands of travellers every year.

Six of the world’s most famous fences and walls boast a combined total of 2.72 million hashtags on Instagram, and show no signs of their popularity fading. Spanning from 7BC to Present Day, it appears that these fences are still making history – and will continue to do so for a long time.
