The Business of Mother's Day
We all know that Mother's Day is important... because, who are we kidding, mom's are the best. But beyond just the symbolic qualities of the holiday, it's a time for brands to really bring home the bucks.

Did you know that there are 85.4 million mothers in the United States? And of those millions of moms who are running around taking care of their kids, 84% are actually participating in the holiday, which, as previously mentioned, is a huge opportunity for brands. 2015 clocked in with the largest amount of money spent on moms thus far in the United States, at $21.2 billion (up more than a billion dollars from the previous year).

To further back up the importance of the day, Mother's Day is the third largest retail holiday, beat out only by "back to school" and the "winter holidays"... which, might have something to do with the large amount of money that's being spent on Mom. The average spend per consumer is $173.

There are so many more interesting facts that we can go into, but rather than getting long-winded, you can check out the infographic below that's put together by The Shelf.
