The Billboard Hot 100 is the standard when it comes to popular music. Over the years more and more categories, be it streaming, download, airplay and many many others have been added to further separate the tracking of songs within different genres and the mediums with which individual songs are consumed. But the Billboard Hot 100 remains the most overall telling of what people are listening to.

This year has been a big one for established artists and new ones alike. With this chart and the research behind it we dug deep into this year's chart. We decided to track the individual progress of Drake, Fetty Wap, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, as they are five of the most popular artists in this year. In the chart you can see the progress that each individual song had in relation to Billboard chart. A further breakdown of Drake's records as well as comparison between two of this year's biggest artists, Fetty Wap and The Weeknd is also included.
