Chevy’s El Camino looms large in film history with a huge number of screen appearances documented in a new graphic from Speedway Motors. The team sorted the muscle car’s film appearances by model and demonstrated how massively popular this car is as a film prop. The model with the most appearances is the 1978 El Camino. The smoother edges on the bulky chassis gave the car a rugged yet stylish look that was versatile to a film’s mood. It appeared in Boyz n the Hood, Reservoir Dogs, and There’s Something About Mary, to name a few films. The 1982 and 1973 models were popular too. The ’82 had 84 film appearances, including Anchorman, Boogie Nights, and Straight Outta Compton. The ’73 model had 58 film appearances, including Gremlins and Wall Street. The El Camino’s versatility is on display here with a wide variety of film genres and models used in films.
