A latest a
Google Workspace update has introduced an improved option of adding alt text to
an image. Currently, the option is accessible from a right-click menu. As a result of the
accessibility improvement, users will be able to access the option from the ‘image
options sidebar’ within Google Workspace documents.
Additionally, alongside the option will be a description
explaining the purpose of alt text, which is to provide context about an image
to the reader. Making the alt text option easy to notice will help users pay
more importance to it and therefore make use of it in their documents where
needed.
The update will be rolling out to Workspace customers starting
next week on Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings.
