Meta seems to be developing a Twitter-like app called ‘Barcelona.’ In March, the company revealed to be working on a decentralized social platform for people including creators and public figures to share up to date information about important events or interests.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi discovered an internal prototype of the said app, which shows it being proposed as “Instagram for your thoughts.” Barcelona looks somewhat like Instagram’s Channels, which is another feature that offers a space for public figures to broadcast messages to their followers.

According to speculations about Barcelona, the app will use people’s Instagram IDs as their usernames. Moreover, posts shared in the app will be limited to 500 characters.

While Twitter continues to push its users to subscribe to its offerings, Meta is looking for an opportunity to attract the angry Twitter users to an alternative platform. The company hasn’t officially confirmed or denied anything about Barcelona as of yet, including its tentative release date.
