As part of its recent AR advancement, Snapchat has launched
a new AR Lens that is meant to help users discover products of their preference
during the holiday season. The lens features a voiceML technology that relies
on audio prompts instead of typed text to engage with and facilitate users.
The Lens, called ‘New Balance,’ works by listening to audio prompts from a user who answers a series of questions to reach the product they are looking for. The Lens will then provide product recommendations that best match with the user’ answers.
While the Lens doesn’t show a major shift in the AR
experience, it indicates Snapchat’s efforts in modifying its AR tools in
various engaging ways. Whether you are looking for a holiday present for a
friend or family member, or are interested in an item for yourself, you may
want to change up your online shopping experience a bit on Snapchat.
Snapchat also offers free AR courses and tools that creators
can benefit from and contribute with their skills to innovative AR tools. The New
Balance Lens is accessible on Snapchat to users in the US only on both iOS and
Android devices till 31st of December.
