To help users discover local businesses/locations and obtain information about them, Instagram has developed a Map Search feature. The option could be used to explore popular locations and even filter the locations by categories like restaurants, cafés, salons, etc.
Users could search for locations that are tagged in posts and stories, as well as those shared in Instagram guides and displayed in hashtags, using Map Search. Moreover, the feature will display contextual information of each location/business, based on UGC, as well as users’ experience.
Research data claims that 58% of Instagram users are more interested in a brand after seeing it in a Story, which suggests that the Map Search feature is an opportunity for brands to showcase their service or product details on Instagram Maps, so that more people are likely to visit them.
