Remember Microsoft’s cute iconic Clippy character? The company announced in a tweet that it would bring Clippy back if the tweet gets 20,000 likes. Twitter users didn’t disappoint and managed to give the tweet more than 20,000 likes, which most likely means that Microsoft would be fulfilling its promise.

Clippy made its first appearance with the launch of Office 97 and was the icon for offering help and tips for using Office. However, in 2001, with the release of Office XP, Clippy was taken back from Office by the software giant.

The icon also made a subtle appearance once again some years ago in the form of animated stickers in Microsoft Teams.

We aren’t sure if Microsoft is going to be taking its promise seriously and will actually bring Clippy back officially. The tweet has now surpassed 30,000 likes, so let’s wait and see if the company will surprise its users anytime soon.
