Google seems to be testing dark mode for Google Search for desktop after it introduced the mode to its mobile apps, including the Gmail and Search apps.
The company is currently reportedly running the A/B test of the dark mode for its desktop-based browser. A dark grey shade has been noticed in place of the traditional plain white background on the Google Search site, while the results are displayed in a lighter tone, close to grey. A different shade of blue is also visible for page names and links. In addition to that, the Google logo appears different, to match the altered background.
We are not sure how long the feature would remain in the testing phase and when does Google plan to release it officially, but it could take a while considering the time the company took to launch dark mode for Gmail.
