The United States considering to ban TikTok

The tensions between the two superpower nations i.e., the United States of America and China, keep on growing. Due to the ongoing conflicts, the U.S. paid some heed to the social media applications that are regulated by China. One of the top used application is TikTok which is owned by a company known as ‘ByteDance’ in Beijing, China and the States believe that anyone from any part of the world signs up to the application ultimately gives China the access to their personal profile and information. This thing caught the attention of the U.S. government, and Pompei stated that they do not want China to invade their privacy by any means.
America’s politicians also said that TikTok could be a significant threat to the nation and its security. However, TikTok has clearly informed that none of the data centers of TikTok are present in China, and there is no way through which the Chinese government can have the information of TikTok users. According to TikTok, all the data of American users is safely stored in the U.S. however, its backup is in Singapore, and China is nowhere in the entire scene.

TikTok however, has gained enormous popularity in an extremely short period of time. During the first three months of 2020, TikTok reached 315 million downloads. This is apparently the highest number of downloads any social media have reached ever. Just like America, India is also looking forward to banning TikTok for the users because of the tensions created among both the neighbors after their Himalayan border clash.
