Snapchat has recently confirmed that it will be releasing “Bitmoji
TV” this weekend to all of its users. The feature will allow users to turn
their Bitmoji avatars into full-motion cartoon series with the first season
having ten episodes.
The cartoon episodes will be provided by Snapchat but you’ll
be able to use your Bitmoji character in different adventures and quests. The new feature is a contribution to the short, TV-like content trend and with
Bitmoji’s popularity and a little personalization, this calls for engaging user
experience.
Currently, users can access the Bitmoji TV episodes through
a Bitmoji TV section in the app.
A writer at Tech Crunch said that the tool is full of
potential, "Having watched the first three episodes, I’m pretty certain
Bitmoji TV is going to be a hit. The show embodies the whimsy of Snapchat and
the youth culture of the community who uses it. It’s rare to see something so
premium but so unabashedly kooky."
Since Snapchat is popular for engaging with people close to
you, this new option allows people to have a fun experience with their close
connections.
Initially, Bitmoji won’t have any ads but they might arrive
later if the feature becomes popular. We’ll have to see how users respond to
the feature and what Snapchat does with the format. Other platforms won’t be
able to copy Bitmoji characters easily, this gives Snap an advantage over them
when it comes to connecting with its audience and keeping them hooked on the
app regularly.
If Snapchat is successful with Bitmoji TV, it’ll be a great
opportunity for the platform itself and for potential advertisers.
