In America, one of the biggest addiction has become the cell phone addiction. With only so much time in a day, people spend a good amount of it on their phones. Average cell phone use per day is over 3 hours! People check their phones about 110 times a day. 40% of people have shown use of their phones in the bathroom and 12% in the shower.

This addiction is nothing something that can easily be put aside and 50% of American teens have admitted that they are addicted to their smartphones. Conflict has risen because of this and 70% of parents say that they have argued with their teens about their usage. It has also taken away from daily social interactions with family. 77% of parents say that their teens were distracted by their phones when spending time with family. Cell phone addiction has also lead to even more serious problems. Cell phone usage has caused 26% of the nation’s car accidents. Parents even more than teens tend to check their phones while driving at 56%. For teens, it was only 51%.

However, the rate of people of all ages as a whole that have admitted to texting at least once behind the wheel is 75%. 1 in 5 people, ages 18-34, have even used their smartphone while having sex and 1 in 3 said that they would rather give up sex than give up their phones. After only 1 hour of waking up, 75% of smartphone users check their phones and 56% check it within an hour of going to sleep. Something very dangerous that 61% of people do is that they sleep with their smartphones under their pillows or by their bed. 48% of people tend to check their smartphones over the weekend.

Even during vacation, 51% of people check their devices continuously throughout their trip and 44% check for job-related emails. When they leave their phones in the car or at home, 50% of people feel uncomfortable and 44% say they feel great anxiety if they lost and couldn’t replace it within a week. Life is passing by before these people eyes and one day they will realize that they spent most of their stuck behind their cell phones.
