Extravagant Jewels: A glimpse inside the jewellery boxes of Europe’s Royals
From historical engagement rings to sparkling tiaras, some of the world’s most amazing jewels can be found inside the jewellery boxes of royal families around the world. In their latest infographic, George Pragnell, a jewellery company based in Stratford-upon-Avon, has explored some of the most stunning necklaces, tiaras, rings and crowns from royal families in Europe including the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain and Netherlands. The infographic features highly detailed illustrations, and includes iconic pieces including the engagement ring of Kate and Diana, Spain’s royal crown “La Corona Real” and Netherland’s “Stuart Tiara”, which features one of the rarest stones in any royal collection.

Some of the gems are worn frequently by royals whereas other pieces are rarely or never used. The crown of Netherlands has actually never been worn. Its purpose is purely symbolic and even if the royals wanted to wear it, it would be difficult as it is made for an unusually large head. Other pieces are on permanent display for the public to admire. One of these pieces is the principal piece of the British Regalia, St Edward’s Crown, which is on display at the Tower of London. Have a look below and decide for yourself which country you think boasts the most impressive collection of gems.
